Michelle Obama at Wayne State

One of our students was able to see and listen to Michelle Obama's speech yesterday at Wayne State. After she told us about it, we watched parts of it as a class. The students were really interested in her message about staying in school, doing your best, and being a role model to others. We had such a great conversation about it, and later in the day I even overheard students saying, "Obama wants us to be good in school." It made me smile!

We NEED parent help!

We are asking for parents to donate $1-2.00 to help put together the baskets that will be raffled off at the carnival.

We also need parent volunteers to help students pick out books for our summer reading club. Let me know if you are interested in coming to school during the day to help out on Wednesday, May 2nd.

We had an AMAING day at the farm! The kids got to milk a cow, feed chickens and goats, pet baby chicks, go on a hay ride, feed a pig and so much more. I am currently putting all the pictures into an I-Movie for you to see. Here are a few sneak peak pics.

Field Trip Change & ExhibtionsA note

Unfortunately, because of an issue with buses, we have to make one final date change for our farm trip.We will be going to Sugarbush Farm this Wednesday, May 19th. I do apologize for all the changes and confusion.

The students need to bring a bag lunch that can be thrown away. Also, the students can wear free dress, but it needs to be appropriate for the farm. (jeans, tennis shoes)

Spring Animal Exhibitions

A note went home yesterday with exhibition sign up times. Please send it back or email me ASAP with your top 3 available times. We will have your student's learning team meeting directly after their presentation. Students need to present on their math, reading, writing, and social goal along with what they learned about their animal.

We Love Kindergarten!

The students did some writing about why they like kindergarten. In this podcast, they read the writing and show you what they loved most about this year!

Our New Smart Board

Because of my membership in UPA's Digital Academy, a Smartboard was installed in our classroom today. It is a touch sensitive interactive white board that can be connected to the computer to use for teaching and activities. Today, we used it to watch an online story and play some math games with coins. We are SO excited to have it in our room!

Farm Trip Update

Sugarbush Farm Field Trip Re-Schedule

Because the forecast for this Thursday says rain again, we will reschedule our farm field trip one last time.

Our farm trip will take place on Thursday, May 20^th. The bus will leave at 9:00am and we will return around 2:00.

If you are a chaperone, please let your teacher know if you are still able to attend.

Happy Mother's Day

I hope all the Moms enjoy their weekend! The kids are on strict orders from me to "be nice to your Mom" this weekend!

Also, I just wanted to let the subscribers know that I am trying to solve the delay delivery of my posts. I found out the the update about our trip being canceled was sent out this afternoon, even though I posted it yesterday at noon. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Canceled Field Trip

Because of rain, the field trip to the farm tomorrow is canceled. Please send your student to school in uniform and lunch will be as it is normally. The trip is rescheduled for Thursday, May 13th. If you are a chaperone, please let me know if you are still able to attend. Sorry for the inconvenience.
