Exhibitions

It's almost that time again! Next week is exhibition week. I am excited to see all that the kids have learned about the jobs they want to do one day.

Please use this weekend to practice their presentation. The student needs to be comfortable telling the class all they learned. It can be easy to see when a project was put together last minute or not rehearsed enough at home.

After your student's presentation, we will have our learning team meeting in our classroom. I will show you your student's progress and we can set new learning and social goals.

If you have any questions please let me know. I know the kids are excited to present and are proud of what they have already accomplished at home!

Valentine's Day

After our 100's Day Party we celebrated Valentine's Day. The students passed out their valentines, enjoyed treats and we played bingo together. Thank you again to the parents who came to help the students pass our their Valentines!

100th Day Of School

Friday morning we celebrated out 100th day of school. We had some AMAZING parent/grandparent/sister helpers in our room! I appreciated their help so much! It was a crazy morning! We made 100's Day Trail Mix with the other 1st graders and kindergartners. In our room we make 100 piece necklaces, tried to put together a 100 piece puzzle, and took 100 steps from our classroom.
I was SO impressed with the 100's Day hats! The students were SO creative with the items they used to decorate them with. I saw cereal, goldfish, puzzle pieces, eyes, stickers, keys, a trophy, toothpaste and really anything you can imagine! Great job kids!

Junie B Jones Trip

On Thursday we went to see The Junie B Jones play at the Macomb Center. As a class we read one of the Junie B Jones chapter books, and really enjoyed it. I was impressed that the students were able to recall character and story information as we read the book over a week.
Enjoy the pictures of the students on the bus and waiting for the play to begin. They were very well behaved and had lots of fun!

100's Day Hat Ideas

Today the students brought home their 100's day hats. They need to glue 100 items onto their hats and wear them back to school on Friday. Here are some ideas from the class I did my student teaching in. I hope this helps you get creative!

Also, I am still looking for a parent who can come help on Friday morning with our 100's Day Trail Mix and donations of paper bowls.
Students are welcome to bring Valentines to out class party on Friday afternoon. A list of all the students' names was sent home before the weekend.

Thursday is our field trip to see our Junie B Jones play. Please send your student to school with a bag lunch that day.

Geo Boards

For the first time we used geo boards in math today. Students used rubber bands to create different shapes on their boards. They did a great job working with the new tools and rose to the challenge of making different shapes.

Kid Sized Shapes

Today we practiced our basic shapes with our selves! The students were put into groups and asked to figure out how to make the shapes on their own. Can you guess the shapes we made?
